📖 Margin vs Markup — What's the Difference?
Margin is your profit as a percentage of revenue (selling price). If you sell for £100 and it costs £60, your margin is 40%.
Markup is your profit as a percentage of cost. Same example: your markup is 66.7%.
Why it matters: Margin is what investors and accountants use. Markup is what you use when setting prices. A 50% markup only gives you a 33.3% margin — they're not the same thing.
